Gerry gets Nebraska offer

Nebraska was by to see Nathan Gerry last week, but no offer. The Huskers didn't waste a lot of time this week though and offered Gerry earlier this afternoon. The Nebraska offer is the sixth offer for Gerry so far, but it might be the biggest.

Nathan Gerry has the offer that he was kind of hoping to get. Gerry hasn't kept it a secret how much he was hoping that Nebraska would offer. When Nebraska offered he let know immediately.

"Nebraska offered," Gerry said in a text message. "I got the offer just about an hour ago."

Leading up to when Gerry went to Lincoln for the spring game he mentioned that Nebraska was his "dream school" and in a later interview Gerry said Nebraska was already in his top three.

On the visit to Nebraska for the spring game Gerry got an understanding about where the Nebraska staff sees him fitting in the best. Gerry says that Nebraska actually likes him as a linebacker.

"They are saying athlete still and they want to see where I could fit the best. They like me best right now as an outside linebacker because they think that I can carry some more weight and keep my speed.

"I am about 6-foot-2.5 and 206-pounds, but I am in track season. I am going to try and put some weight on over the summer. I am fine with defense and linebacker. It's only my first year on defense this past year and I moved from the secondary to defensive end to linebacker."

Gerry is now holding offers from Iowa, Montana, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State as well as Nebraska. Big Red Report will be catching up with Gerry a little later tonight to talk more about the offer.
