Huskers extend offer to 2014 DT

There has been a big effort on the recruiting path. If you break it down you can see that one of the biggest areas of improvement has been Nebraska trying nail down that 250-mile radius of Lincoln. Just a week ago brought you an update about this Kansas DT and the new interest from Nebraska and now he has an offer from Nebraska.

The 2013 class is coming together nicely for Nebraska. The Nebraska staff will have another junior day in June that they are calling Big Red Weekend, but they are also hard at work putting together the 2014 class.

While all offer totals are unofficial you can look at the prospect lists and see anywhere from 30-40 offers out to 2014 kids. That offer total, whatever it might officially be, increased by one last Friday when Peyton Newell picked up a Nebraska offer.

"Yes," Newell said. "I picked up an offer from Nebraska last Friday."

Newell is from Hiawatha (Kans.) which is just 17 miles from Falls City, Nebr. and only about 10 miles from the Nebraska border. Newell is also holding offers from Baylor, Illinois, Iowa, TCU and UCLA. Newell is 6-foot-3, 270-pounds and runs a 4.8/40.
