Change of plans

Last night, brought you the latest with Terrell Newby, a highly sought after running back, that he was down to three schools and maybe ready to make a decision later this week. After a day to think about when he would make his announcement it's changed. Newby says that his decision is now on hold.

California, Oregon and Nebraska are the top three schools for Terrell Newby. Newby, a three-star running back and the No. 40 running back nationally from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade College Prep, was also planning on making his college announcement this week…until today. spoke with Newby last night and he said that despite making his commitment this week, a pending announcement that he wasn't sure when he would do it this week, that he would still be visiting Nebraska on June 16th for Big Red Weekend. Things have changed today.

"I am postponing my decision," Newby said. "I spoke with Coach Rich Fisher from Nebraska and I really can't commit to a school without visiting all of the schools that I am considering. We spoke on the phone and I really need to take my time with this. I need to see Nebraska in June."

It's not too difficult to see that with the three schools that Newby was favoring that he has been favoring Cal. Newby says that he would of course be favoring Cal at this point because he's visited the school three times.

"I have time. I don't have to rush a decision here. This is an important decision and I need to visit these schools to make sure that I am making the right decision."

Newby ran for over 2,000 yards as a junior, averaging just below seven yards per carry and scored 34 touchdowns. Besides offers from his top three schools Newby was also holding offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Minnesota, Oregon State, Washington State and others.
