"As of now I know that I will be making some visits this summer," Gerry said. "I don't have a lot of dates set up, but I know that I will be in Nebraska in June 16th. That's the only date that I know for sure."
Gerry will be making a return trip to Nebraska and there are some things that he says he is looking forward to doing this second time around. One of those things that will be really important to the weekend is talking to the head coach about how he could fit in the defense.
"I was there for the spring game, but it was raining. The coaches want me to come back so they can explain the defense to me a little more. I really want to see that and what I would be doing.
"I also want to get around the whole coaching staff. I have really only spoken with a couple of them. I also haven't spoken with Bo Pelini face to face so that is something that I am looking forward to doing."
There have already been a couple of opportunities for Gerry to talk with Coach Bo Pelini over the phone. Their conversations have been about former players and how Gerry does remind Pelini about some of them. <. "I have had a chance to talk to Coach Bo over the phone a couple of times. When he was coaching down at LSU he coached the safeties and he told me of some players that I reminded him of.
"He told me a little bit of how he saw me playing at Nebraska. He told me that in some packages he could see me doing this and in other packages he could see me doing something else. I really want to have that conversation face to face and learn more about it."
Gerry has gone from a player with literally one DI offer a couple of months ago to now having a double-digit offer total. He says that he would like to take the summer slow, get out and see a number of schools this summer.
"Besides Nebraska, I know that I will go and visit Michigan State and Iowa for sure. I don't really know if that will be it. I am just going to take this slow and try and visit as many schools as I can by the end of the summer."
