Wahoo running back Tyler Kavan camped at Nebraska over the past few days.

After running for nearly 1,900 yards in 2011, Wahoo running back Tyler Kavan came to Nebraska's camp Monday through Wednesday with a chip on his shoulder. He knows he might be from a C-1 school, but Kavan says it doesn't affect his effort on the field.

"I went to a combine earlier in the year with the top Nebraska kids and I did pretty well there. I placed in the top three in two events, so I knew I would be facing some of the top kids in the state again. I like to measure up and also knew there would be some kids from across the nation at this camp," said Kavan. "I think the camp went good. I learned a lot from it, but it was pretty hot. I definitely learned some drills that will help me train my feet to be quicker next season."

Kavan stands at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds. For his efforts last season, he was named first-team Lincoln Journal Star Class C-1 All-State as a junior.

"I love Nebraska, I'm a true fan through and through. It's definitely a dream school," said Kavan. "They didn't really talk to me much at their camp, but I went to their junior day. I think that I'm on their radar and I hope they are looking at me."

A possible Nebraska walk-on candidate down the road, Kavan says he would be more than interested if the coaching staff approached him about being a walk-on.

"I would be excited and feel honored, not a ton of players get the opportunity, and I would think about it really hard, that's for sure," said Kavan. "I have a lot of other schools who are options as well, but Nebraska is definitely the dream school.

"South Dakota State, Northwest Missouri State, Wayne State, a lot of little schools around Nebraska are looking at me. At the camp I talked with the Southeast Missouri State coach, he said that he likes what I bring to the field."

So what does Kavan bring to the field?

"Energy. I bring energy to the field and never give up on a player," said the soon to be senior. "I bring a lot of effort. I may not be the fastest guy or the biggest guy, but I always bring effort and bring it. I just love the game."
