Banderas: "As good as a I hoped for"

With over 20 prospects in attendance, Nebraska commitment Josh Banderas classifies Big Red Weekend as a success.

When Big Red Report texted Lincoln Southwest linebacker and Husker commitment Josh Banderas about Big Red Weekend on Saturday night, his return text was music for all Husker fans' ears.

"The weekend went as good as I could have hoped for," said Banderas.

Shortly after Big Red Report called the soon to be senior, who seems to be now the lead player recruiter in the 2013 class.

"Having all the guys (committed prospects) over to my house and getting to know them more was great on Friday night," said Banderas. "We really started to bond as a team and I think we get along pretty well."

The crew of six commitments in attendance (Banderas, Courtney Love, Greg Hart, Dan Samuelson, A.J. Natter, and Christian Lacouture), not only used the weekend to establish a greater bond between one and another, but to work on other non-committed prospects in attendance.

"Today, we kind of got to work together as a team to really talk with some of these guys," said Banderas. "We knew something about each one of the players here, so we really tried to talk about Nebraska with them.

"I think a lot of them saw something different than they expected. They were expecting a smaller stadium and I think for it to be out in the middle of a cornfield - they were wowed quite a bit."

Banderas, who's visited campus a handful of times in the last three months, didn't seem to mind that things were a little different for the committed prospects in attendance.

"It was sort of like we were freshman already. It was like we were already part of the team," said Banderas. "We felt that they were talking with us and definitely keeping us in the loop, but they were definitely spending a little more time with the uncommitted guy.

"I think it was a great weekend."
