With his decision possibly in sight according to HornedFrogBlitz.com (TCU Fox), Frisco Centennial cornerback Ranthony Texada was in Lincoln on Friday for the Huskers' "Big Red Weekend."
"It was a good visit. I haven't really been to that part of the country before, so I got to see everything and really get to know what they are all about. They have a strong tradition and I learned all about it," said Texada.
A rising 2013 prospect, Texada impressed Scout.com at the DFW Nike Camp, earning All-NFTC honors. Shortly after the camp was when the majority of his offers started to come in.
"I think it's totally up in the air. It would be nice if they offered. I would definitely be excited about it," said the soon to be senior, who said the Nebraska coaching staff would let him know soon. "It would be big because they are a big time defensive program. It's what they are known for. Plus they are in the Big Ten, so it would be a offer for me.
"They said they were going to get back to me, so I will see what happens in the next couple of days."
Texada recorded 45 tackles and five interceptions last year, but it's his speed, not his stat line, that's impressing college scouts. He reportedly ran a 4.33 forty at the TCU camp with a 3.77 pro shuttle.
So what did Texada like most about Nebraska?
"The facilities are some of the best I have seen," said the corner, who is looking for the right fit. "I went on the first day of Big Red Weekend, so I really didn't get to meet too many people. So I was mostly hanging out with the coaches. I want a place where I feel like I have a good fit with them. Distance doesn't really matter to me or my parents, as long as it will be a good fit."
Big Red Report will continue to monitor Ranthony Texada's recruitment in the coming days.
