Lincoln, NE - Nebraska wide receiver Jamal Turner's freshman year came with more than a few bumps. Learning a new position and the challenges of college football compared to the high school level kept Turner on the sidelines at times.
With his freshman season in the rearview mirror and the loss of Brandon Kinnie, Turner could get more opportunities in 2012, and Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini feels the Texas product is on the right track.
"He gets it. He had a lot of work to do, and he understands that, and he has put a lot of work in, he has come a long way," said Pelini. "I think it will be a huge opportunity for him. It was his first year as a wide receiver, so I think he is a lot more confident, a lot more comfortable, and I think he will do a good job."
Turner finished fifth on the team with 15 receptions for 243 yards in 2011, and showed he has depth threat potential averaging 16.2 yards a reception.
