Biggs good to go

Junior college All-American Deverell Biggs is headed to Lincoln.

Lincoln, NE - Junior college All-American Deverell Biggs is headed to Lincoln.

The former Omaha Central standout informed Big Red Report on Monday night that his academic work was in order and that he was admitted to the University of Nebraska. He starts classes on Tuesday.

"It feels good, it's been a tough summer. I'm glad it's over with and I'm heading to Lincoln right now," said Biggs, who's been at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska this summer. "It feels really good. It's all I can say. I'm ready to go to work. I have classes tomorrow."

The first signee in the Tim Miles era, Biggs averaged 14.61 points per game this year, with just over 3.1 assists a contest at Seward Community College in 2011-12. Seward went 31-7 on the year.

Biggs chose Nebraska over offers from Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, and Utah State.

"I can down to visit the team, but haven't been able to practice or do the summer workouts with the guys, because of the academic stuff," said Biggs. "I look forward to being able to do that. I love all the guys on the team. They are all great people and I'm excited to get to work with them."

With three years to play two, Biggs plans to redshirt this season.

"I talked to Coach Miles about it and he's okay with it, so I'm going to do it and try to help the team out," said Biggs.
