Allen talks UCLA unofficial visit

Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy Prep wide out Devon Allen took an unofficial visit to UCLA over the weekend and recently set up his first two official visits.

Devon Allen is not just one of the region's top receivers but one of the nation's top hurdlers in track as well. His recruitment is starting to come in to more focus and he has set up his first two official visits.

"I'm going to Arkansas this weekend (Sept. 21) and Texas will be (Oct. 5)," Allen said. "I also want to visit Notre Dame and I'm looking at Washington, Arizona State, Florida State and UCLA for my other visits. Those are all just possibilities right now and I'm not really leaning anywhere."

As for his recent visit to UCLA, Allen spent a couple days in Los Angeles taking in a game and seeing the campus.

"I drove down Saturday for the game at the Rose Bowl and then Sunday did the campus tour," Allen said. "I had an awesome time and really loved it there. The game atmosphere was great and I loved the fan support. I went in to the locker room and talked with some of the players, Paul Perkins is someone I already knew since he's from Arizona.

"Coach Mazzone is the one recruiting me and we have a good relationship. That offense is great, it's run and gun and I like how I would fit in there. Sunday the coaches walked around campus with me and it's a great place. Overall, I loved the trip. I told myself ahead of time that if the visit went well, I would set up an official visit and that's what I did. I'm going back there (Nov. 16) when they play USC. That should be an incredible atmosphere and I'm looking forward to it."

Editors Note: Following the posting of this article, Allen texted that he will no longer be taking the official visit to Arkansas this weekend. He said he wasn't sure if he would re-schedule the visit for a later time or not.
