Newby gives Nebraska visit a "10"

There was only one official visitor in the stands for Nebraska this weekend, but it was an important one. Nebraska definitely wants to get faster in every area on the field and Terrell Newby can do that at the running back position. The West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back gave the visit to Nebraska perfect score of "10".

After not hosting any official visitors last week the Nebraska staff welcomed just one official visitor this week for their game against Idaho State. West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back Terrell Newby got all of the coaching staff and their attention this weekend.

"I am at the airport right now," Newby said. "I got here to Lincoln on Thursday night around 8:00. Coach Ron Brown and the other coordinators were here to meet me and my family basically right as we got off the plane that night."

Newby said that his parents and little brother made the trip to Nebraska with him this go round. Newby has already visited Nebraska one time before when he came to Big Red Weekend on June 16th. Thursday night consisted of him and his family basically just going to the hotel. Friday was a full day though.

"Friday was a full day for me to see things and I ate a lot. I probably gained 10 pounds. I was Nebraska's only visitor and I got a lot of stuff done. I got a chance to meet with Coach Tom Osborne. He is a great guy and a great person.

"After that I got a chance to go to some meeting and I learned some more about the offense and what they ask their running backs to do. It's a lot like the offense I run at Chaminade so there probably wouldn't be a lot of adjustment. I went to the walk through that day and also met with the academic department and got all of my questions answered by them."

Friday and Saturday were set up to be the busy days for Newby. He said that he was up and with the team that morning, eating a pre-game meal, and then he was doing more of the football side of the trip.

"I got a chance to meet with all of the training staff on Saturday. Before the game I was coming out of the tunnel and all of the fans were yelling and I was high-fiving all of the little kids. I heard my name being called by a lot of the fans.

"It was a cool experience and the tunnel walk was awesome. I wasn't even playing that day and I was all hyped up after watching it. In the game I saw how Nebraska utilized their running backs and how they like to get them out into space. Nebraska really wants to put speed on the field and I can see myself in their offense.:

Newby said that he wrapped up things today and was looking at a long flight back home with a layover in Chicago. That was going to give him a lot of time to think about what he just saw and how he really enjoyed his time in Nebraska again.

"Honestly the visit was a "10". The game was great even if it was a blowout. I can't really pick out one single thing that could have been better, but Josh Banderas told me to have a Runza before I left and I didn't. I guess I will have to have one the next time I am there."

Newby says that he doesn't have any other visit plans set up at the moment, but that will change soon. He says that he will be heading to see at least one PAC12 team next month and another wants him to visit after his season is over.

"I haven't set up any other visits yet. I have been talking to some teams thought and I know that I will set up a visit to Oregon next week to see them in October. California is talking to me about coming after the season, but because of my timeline I will have to move that visit up."
