Up for debate: Is ten wins possible?

With most of their scoring gone from last season, can new head coach Tim Miles and crew have a similar season to last year? Or will it be a tougher to get to even ten wins?

In our next issue of Big Red Report magazine, we ask the Lincoln Journal Star's Brian Rosenthal, 93.7 The Ticket's Nick Bahe, and the Voice of the Huskers Kent Pevelka to preview a handful of topics regarding the 2012-13 hoops season.

For a small preview of what's to come in the magazine, check out this question.

No Bo Spencer, no Caleb Walker, no Brian Diaz, can Nebraska have a similar season to last year? Or is even getting to 10 wins going to be tough?

Rosenthal: "They could be similar to last year. I just don't know. The Big Ten is going to be brutal, so they are going to have to make hay in the non-conference. Their non-conference isn't exactly easy compared to last year...Hopefully you can steal a game or two at home in the Big Ten. They won 12 games last year, which I think is possible. But it would probably be a high watermark though."

Bahe: "I think it's going to be a lot tougher to get to ten wins. I think people underestimate how often Bo Spencer was just able to bail them out of games last year, by him just going 1-on-1 and making a play. I think it's going to be a long year for Nebraska, but I think it's okay. When talking about building a program, sometime you have to take a step back to take a step forward. In some ways, I like that Tim Miles has owned the fact that it's going to take time and be a process. You can't change it overnight."

Pavelka: "I think they will get to ten wins. The problem is, do they have a guy who can get to 15 to 16 points a game and do they have a second guy who could score 12 to 13 points a game. I think they have to get 30 points a game out of Talley and Ubel. Then do you have three more who could score 10 points a game? That gets you to 60 points a game. I'm afraid it's going to be the same problem again this year – scoring the ball."
