Having recently returned from a trip to Nebraska, Hinnant said he was blown away at how passionate the Cornhuskers fan base was.
"I really loved the atmosphere," said Hinnant. "They bleed Nebraska red for sure."
Hinnant connected with several players and coaches during his trip to Nebraska, something he says is crucial in picking his school. While Oregon is near the top of his list, schools like Cal and Oregon State are also schools the offensive lineman is considering.
In April, Hinnant took a trip up to Corvallis to visit Oregon State on an unofficial visit and said that the campus and facilities stood out. He also mentioned that he has developed a great relationship with Beavers offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh and head coach Mike Riley. He said he had a similar experience in Berkeley earlier this season when he visited Cal. He's set to visit Oregon State on November 24 for the Civil War between the Ducks and Beavers.
When he visits Oregon, Hinnant expects a similar atmosphere to the one he witnessed in Nebraska. He also said he hopes to get a chance to meet with some of the players, specifically the lineman, which could go a long way in determining which school he wants to attend.
"It's definitely about the relationships," Hinnant said. "And if I'll be able to live there for four or five years."
Hinnant's current focus is trying to fix Fountain Valley's recent freefall. After a strong start they've fallen to 3-4 on the season, and Hinnant has taken it upon himself to try and guide the team back into the winning column.
"I make them know that we don't do this individually, but that we do it for our brothers next to us and they'd do the same for you," he said.
