Huskers still in the picture

It was a big weekend when Nebraska was able to bring in UCLA commitment Christian Morris. Morris, a 6-foot-6 and 289-pound offensive tackle from Memphis (Tenn.) East says that Nebraska is definitely still in his recruiting picture.

While many Nebraska fans viewed the Wisconsin weekend as a big miss when all of the recruits left without committing there was a lot of good out of the weekend. Nebraska hosted a number of already committed players including Christian Morris.

"They are still playing a huge role in my recruitment," Morris said. "They are a good school and that trip surprised me."

Nebraska got a visit in from Morris while they could because the next one won't happen until the middle of next month. That is as long as East's season is still going.

"I just set up another visit, but it's later. We are trying to go to state and my coach has asked us to focus ourselves so I will not be taking any trips anytime soon. I am shutting it down for a while right now.

"I have a visit set up to UCLA in November. I am also planning on taking an official visit to Oklahoma too."

Morris said that East is sitting good in their conference when it comes to possibly reaching state. Morris says that he's stayed healthy, stayed in that range where he is comfortable weight-wise, and he's enjoyed his time playing defense this season.

"We are sitting pretty good in our conference. We are in the top two in our conference and the top two go to state.

"I am feeling pretty good. My weight fluctuates a little bit, but right now I am at 289-pounds. I am comfortable right around 290-pounds.

"I am playing on both sides of the ball. I am playing offensive tackle and I am also playing defensive end and defensive tackle. I have a lot of fun playing defense. You can be more explosive on defense."
