The Saginaw Valley State Cardinals kept it close for 9 minutes, trailing just 11-9. But the Wolverines went on an 11-0 run behind two tre's by Glenn Robinson III and another by Trey Burke to make it 22-9, then raced on to a 43-20 halftime lead over. Michigan then coasted in the second stanza to win 76-48.
Robinson led U-M with 17 points (7-9 shooting). Burke had a strong game in his first outing with16 points and 8 assists. Mitch McGary contributed 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. Michigan had 23 assists and just 7 turnovers, and shot 56.9% (40.7% from three point land, 11-27).
The starters were GRIII, Burke, Tim Hardaway, Jordan Morgan and Matt Vogrich, tho, in the end, McGary, Nik Stauskas and Spike Albrecht all playing more minutes than Vogrich.
Michigan begins the regular season Friday at the Crisler Center against Slippery Rock.
