First Big Ten Offer For Laster

One of the more versatile members of the 2013 class in Ohio is Cleveland Heights two-way athlete De'Niro Laster. He already holds eight offers, and is seeing his recruitment pick up in the past week.

Following an impressive senior season on the field, Cleveland Heights (OH) wide receiver/linebacker De'Niro Laster is seeing his recruitment pick up dramatically.

Laster, 6-foot-2, 220-pounds, currently holds eight offers and is receiving interest from several BCS programs. Thursday night, he landed his first Big Ten offer.

"I was offered by Minnesota tonight," Laster stated. "I've been talking to them a lot lately, and they offered me tonight on the phone. Now that I'm good to go with the clearinghouse, I'm seeing things really pick up. I'm going to go for an official visit to Minnesota in December, but the date isn't set yet. I'm definitely very interested in Minnesota."

He also holds offers from Cincinnati, Kansas, and five MAC schools, and Laster is hopeful more could be headed his way soon.

"The main schools that are talking to me the most are Purdue, Penn State, UCLA and Georgia Tech, of the ones that have not offered," he explained. "Penn State told me they are very close to offering, and we talk every week. They want me to come for an official visit too, and I definitely want to get that scheduled. I'm very interested in Penn State."

"Georgia Tech has been talking to me for a while, and they just requested my transcript this week," Laster continued. "UCLA is a school I'm interested in, and the distance doesn't matter to me. With Donovan Munger being interested in UCLA, there's a chance they could get both of us if they would offer. They said they have scholarships available. I might take an official visit to Buffalo, but they would be the only MAC school I'm interested in."

Laster just finished an impressive senior season, where he starred on both sides of the football. This was his first year as a full-time starter at linebacker, and he is being recruited to play on both sides of the football. He could also project as a wide receiver, or flex tight end.
