The new offer for Atewe came from Georgia Tech. "I received an offer from Coach (Brian) Gregory and the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech." Coach Gregory extended the offer to Matthew's mentor, Vidal Massaih. "They have been actively recruiting me for over a month so we felt an offer was coming very soon and it did."
The offer was one that Matthew hoped to get. "All offers are great to get but when you get one from a school you really like that makes it more enjoyable."
The offer from Georgia Tech comes from a school that Matthew already knew about having lived in Georgia as recently as two years ago. "I've spent time on the campus at Georgia Tech and I'm very familiar with the school and the basketball program."
The early signing period began on the 14th but Matthew plans to make his decision in the late signing period. "I have a lot of schools to make a decision from and I want to use as much time as possible."
Most schools are recruiting Atewe to play either of the post positions. "I prefer the 4 because I am mobile enough to play either with my back facing the basket or not." The strength of Matthew's game is rebounding and playing defense. "I feel that the 4 is where I will end up in college."
When making his decision, Atewe will be looking at the coaches to see how he fits in with them. "What opportunity I get as a player, playing time, and style of play will also be factors." Matthew is looking to get a degree that will eventually lead to law school.
