'Amazing' Atmosphere for Knevel

Making his third visit to Madison, 6-8 Brantford (ON) offensive lineman David Knevel recaps his official visit to Wisconsin over the weekend.

MADISON - After twice visiting the University of Wisconsin, a second of which for a high school summer camp that earned him a scholarship number, Brantford (ON) Pauline Johnson Collegiate offensive lineman David Knevel was looking forward to seeing how the atmosphere compared to the other visits he's made.

He got his answer with a loud statement.

"Amazing!" Knevel exclaimed to Badger Nation about Wisconsin's home game against Ohio State. "Everybody was really nice, loved the Badgers and every aspect of the Badgers, not just football. The game was just ecstatic. The student section was crazy and built up the whole crowd.

"My weekend was really good. It was good to get back there. It was like a regular official. I got time to talk to the coaches and the players, get a feel for the campus life and had a really good time."

Knevel – a 6-8, 295-pound three-star OL that is rated No.95 in the country at his position by Scout.com – got the Wisconsin information from all angles.

Getting the player perspective, Knevel was hosted by offensive lineman Walker Williams on Friday night and Dan Voltz on Saturday night.

"I got a lot of information from both of them," said Knevel. "They told me everything I need to know, so it was good."

Getting the coaching perspective, Knevel continued his relationship with offensive line coach Bart Miller. Although originally recruited by former offensive line coach Mark Markuson, Knevel and Miller worked together during the summer at UW's camp.

"It was good talking with him," said Knevel of Miller. "We've built a good relationship. It was nice because I really like the guy."

Knevel also got to speak to head coach Bret Bielema before flying out of town Sunday.

"He talked to me about Wisconsin could offer and how much he would like it if I would join the program." said Knevel. "It was a regular spiel. We had a good time. It was really nice."

Knevel had made two visits to Nebraska (including an official) as well as official visits to Purdue and West Virginia. He will make his final official visit this week to Washington State.
