Ross recaps visit to Oregon State

Long Beach Jordan (Calif.) wide out John Ross took his second official visit of the year this past weekend and both have been to the state of Oregon. Ross checked out Oregon State after visiting Oregon last month.

Oregon State has been on John Ross for some time and the talented athlete was in Corvallis for the Civil War over the weekend.

"You can really tell how much the coaches care for you there," Ross said. "That really stood out to me and was probably my favorite part of the trip. Every schools preaches family and but at Oregon State, it's true a family atmosphere and everyone there, from the coaches to the players made me feel like I was already part of the team.

"Corvallis is a small town but I liked it. It's a great college atmosphere there and I have developed good relationships with the coaches already. Coach Riley is a great guy and Coach Brennan is the one recruiting me and we're real close as well. Brandin Cooks was supposed to be my host but he got hurt in the game so Malik Gilmore, who I played against last year, showed me around and I had a really good time."

As for the game, Ross said he was impressed with both teams.

"I was very impressed with Oregon State," Ross said. "They have a great team and an amazing offense. Their defense was really good too and they were playing with Oregon but just made too many mistakes. Oregon is one of those teams that makes you pay, they know how to capitalize on mistakes and ran away from them.

"I think I would fit in really well with Oregon State's offense and I think I would fit in well with Oregon's offense as well. They're so explosive and they play so fast. They have so many dynamic playmakers, it seems like anyone on the team can score from anywhere on the field at any point in the game. I like both teams a lot and both are very high on my list."

Ross said his next visit will be to Washington (Dec. 7) followed by UCLA (Dec. 14).

"I'll have one more visit left but I'm not sure if I'll take it," Ross said. "I'm still talking with some schools but I don't have anyone in mind for that last trip. I'm just going to play it by ear, if I'm ready to decide after the UCLA visit, I'll commit, if not, I might take another trip, we'll just see how it goes."
