Trio from Nebraska see Hooks

Nebraska is trying to position their selves to nab some commitments over the next week. One of the players is highly sought after junior college defensive tackle Lavon Hooks. Hooks hosted three coaches from Nebraska this evening just days before he comes to a college decision.

Booneville (Miss.) Northeast Mississippi defensive tackle Lavon Hooks had company tonight. Hooks hosted three coaches from Nebraska for what will probably be their last chance to leave an impression on the coveted junior college prospect.

"Yes sir the Nebraska coaches were here tonight," Hooks said. "Coach Bo Pelini, Coach Terry Joseph and Coach John Papuchis were all here from Nebraska. We just talked about football, really.

"Nebraska is telling me that there is an opportunity to come in there and win the starting spot. It's wide open. That's a great thing about Nebraska and the chance to come in and play."

Hooks says that there is a list of favorites, but he hasn't really sat down to think about an order. There are about six schools right now that Hooks is thinking about the most.

"I wouldn't really say that there is an order or anything, but I would say Arizona State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn and Nebraska. Wait, I guess that I would put Washington in there in front of Arizona State now. They are kind of tied for fifth."

The next time we hear from Hooks might be when he has come up with a decision. "I am going to announce my decision on Monday," Hooks said. "There is a lot to consider and think about over the next few days."
