Four-Star Changes Visit

New Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops has hit the ground running, and appears to have targeted the state of Ohio as fertile recruiting ground. Hiring assistant coach Vince Marrow away from Nebraska appears to be paying off instantly for the Wildcats.

Four-star wide receiver Shelton Gibson is one of the top prospects not only in Ohio, but in the Midwest, and he recently completed an impressive senior season.

Gibson, 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, has already taken an official visit to West Virginia, has upcoming trips to Ohio State and Auburn, and was scheduled to visit North Carolina State this coming weekend.

But a new school has suddenly entered the picture for Gibson, and he has cancelled the trip to North Carolina State, and instead will take an official visit to Kentucky.

"I spoke with the new Kentucky coaches this week, and I'm going there this weekend for an official," Gibson stated Thursday evening. "That new staff is pretty sweet, and I'm excited to have that offer."

Gibson is one of three Ohioans that have scheduled visits with new head coach Mark Stoops in the past 24 hours. Huber Heights Wayne offensive lineman Lovell Peterson will also take an official to Lexington this weekend, while Canton McKinley defensive end Antoine Miles, a recent Nebraska commit, will visit officially in January.

Stoops and recently hired assistant Vince Marrow have been extremely aggressive in Ohio this week, as both natives are well respected in the state. They are making it clear that they plan on being a player in Ohio recruiting going forward.
