Bowl Preview: TCU Linebackers

What will Michigan State's offense see when they line up against TCU in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl? We jump over from looking at the Horned Frogs offense to looking at their defense. In this quick look we look at the linebacker position.

The way the TCU defensive front lines up is a little different as they only use two linebackers in their scheme while adding another athletic player in their secondary giving them three safeties.

Much like Michigan State the Horned Frogs have a solid linebacker in senior Kenny Cain (6-foot-1, 220-pounds) who led the team with 74 total tackles while also posting two interceptions. The Second-Team All-Big 12 selection is a solid player and one the Spartans will need to account for if they are to have success running the ball.

While the TCU defensive front applies most of the pressure behind the line of scrimmage the Spartans can count of Cain being within a short distance ready to make a tackle.

Middle linebacker Joel Hasley is right behind Cain with 71 total tackles (8 for loss) and two sacks.

Backing up the two main defenders are a couple of sophomores in Marcus Mallet (18 tackles, 5 for loss) and Paul Dawson (14 tackles, 1 for loss).

The group has played solid this season but some feel they have their weaknesses that can play in the favor of the Spartans.
