UA Game: Top 5 White Defense

Tuesday was the second day of practices at the UnderArmour All-American game at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex just outside of Orlando. breaks down the top five performers on each side of the football.

1. Carl Lawson, DE, Milton (GA), committed to Auburn

It is hard to believe that Lawson was more explosive on day two than the first day, but he was. Lawson has the most upside of any pure pass rusher at this event and should develop into a double digit sack type at the next level. Lawson has violent hands that he uses to dis-engage when offensive linemen are able to handle his elite first step. Lawson makes the top 5 for a second day in a row.

2. Artie Burns, DB, Northwestern (FL), committed to Miami

Burns had a strong day in 1on1's where he registered a couple of intereceptions and displayed lock-down skills at corner. Despite adding some weight, Burns seems to have become more fluid and his game is certainly on the rise. Burns has rotated between CB and S this week and it is still very much up in the air where he ends up playing at Miami.

Beckwith is one of the most physically imposing players on the field

3. Keith Ford, RB, Cypress Lake (TX), committed to Oklahoma

Ford displayed the quickness and athleticism that he is known for at both RB and kick returner. He combines his speed and burst with a strong body and we think he is a three down back at the next level. Ford really had a strong day Tuesday and we will see if can build on that tomorrow at the final full practice.

4. Kendell Beckwith, LB, East Feliciana (LA)

While there is no question about Beckwith's athleticism, there have been some about his future position. Some people feel like he will stick at OLB and others feel he will play with his hand down at DE. Today he answered some of the questions by playing well in space amd against the pass. He is one of the best looking kids on the field and a player that is ready physically to contribute early.

5. Max Redfield, S, Mission Viejo (CA)

Like Lawson above, this is the second day in a row that Redfield has made our top five and he is making a strong case to be the top Safety at this event. There is little that Redfield does not do well and he is built just about perfect. He will need to add some weight, but other than that he looks like the type that can see the field early in his career.
