FOS TV: O'Brien's Opening Statement

The Penn State football coach began his postseason PC by expounding on a number of topics. See the entire statement, which lasted nearly 15 minutes, from the front of the Beaver Stadium Media Room.

Penn State football coach Bill O'Brien obviously had plenty on his mind heading into Monday morning's postseason press conference.

So he got things rolling without waiting for a signal from the BTN, which was carrying the PC live. Before a question was even asked, O'Brien started talking. Then he talked some more. Then he talked some more.

He covered his relationship with the local media, his decision to stay at Penn State after interviewing with at least two NFL teams, his relationship with key PSU administrators and his family vacation trip to Disney World.

He also talked in very emotional terms about reports that he effectively strong-armed Penn State into giving him a $1.3 million raise to stay at the school. For the record, he called the reports "a bunch of malarkey."

We had a unique angle on the opening statement, and had the video camera rolling. We were able to zoom in at times when it looked like O'Brien was close to tears.
