Mitchell was the CIF Div. I 2012 200-meter champion in the Spring with a time of 21.19 and runs the 100-meter in 10.5 seconds.
On the football field, Mitchell displays that elite track speed at cornerback and says college coaches in both sports are interested.
To continue to evaluate his options, Mitchell will visit Army, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Nevada in January but says one sport doesn't take priority over the other.
"I don't like to do that really," he said. "I like to weigh them evenly because I think I can do well at both."
Neither sport may take top priority but each school does stand out for its own reasons:
"Army is an eye opener compared to any other division I school because it's a military academy so I want to go check it out and see what they're all about and learn more about them."
"Wisconsin is a really good track school so I'll check them out and see what they're looking for in me as an athlete."
"Wyoming is showing a lot of interest. They've come down to see me quite a few times and I've seen their facilties on an iPad. They have a really good business school so I'm excited to see that."
"Nevada has also come to see me and they're showing a lot of interest but before they offer they want me to go there and talk with them and see everything."
Mitchell added he isn't in a rush to make any decision and will wait until signing day.
