Up for debate: Defensive players to watch

The media panel discusses the guys they are most excited to watch on defense in 2013.

In our next issue of Big Red Report magazine, we ask the Lincoln Journal Star's Steve Sipple, the Associated Press' Eric Olson, and Omaha ESPN 590's Michael Grey to answer a handful of topics previewing the Huskers offseason and 2013 season.

So how about a little preview? Here is one question you should expect in the next magazine.

Name the player you are most excited to see/hear about this spring and into 2013?

Olson: "I will say Michael Rose. He was a pretty touted kid coming out of high school and will probably get an opportunity to play at linebacker. So we will see if he can justify his press clippings. A lot of people were excited about him when he signed."

Sipple: "I'm most intrigued by Thomas Brown because of what I have heard form the coaches, especially the head coach. He will be an outside linebacker, but they can move him up in pass rushing situations. I think the head coach feels Thomas Brown is an immediate difference maker. They were getting him ready for the UCLA game and he got hurt. So that is the guy that intrigues me."

Grey: "I guess I would go with Vincent Valentine and Zaire Anderson. Again the d-line is interesting to me, but I want to see what Zaire Anderson brings to the table healthy."
