Martinez still undecided

Granted there is still time before national signing day it's still getting down to crunch time. One player who has multiple options and isn't close to a decision yet is Laguna Beach (Calif.) standout Drake Martinez.

Drake Martinez from Laguna Beach (Calif.) is still trying to make a college decision. Martinez's head coach from last season, Mike Churchill, has stepped aside as the head coach, but is still the school's athletic director.

"I really don't know," former Laguna Beach head coach Mike Churchill said. "I am no longer the coach, I resigned in December, but I am still the athletic director. We have a ceremony at 11:00 here and I told him if he hasn't decided before then to not show up."

The list of schools that Martinez might be considering is also mystery. Mike Churchill says that there are a number of schools that have tried to get Drake to visit, but he's only taken trips to two schools officially.

"I honestly don't know that either. I know that he's visited Nebraska and just recently Michigan State. He's turned down a lot of opportunities to take trips to other schools, a lot of good schools too, but I don't know who he's considering."

One thing is for sure for Mike Churchill and that is that recruiting isn't what it used to be. The head coach used to be overly involved with the recruits' recruiting process, but now they just provide the email address and the phone numbers. That's it.

"Recruiting isn't what it used to be. It used to be that all recruiting would come through the head coach. Nowadays all these college coaches want are an email address for the player and that's the last you hear of them."
