Business School Surprises Clark

For some college athletic prospects the school they choose to attend is as important or more important than the football program. For some, they carry an equal weight when a prospect goes to determine his future home. New Smyrna Beach wide receiver James Clark wants some of both and saw it in Gainesville this weekend.

James Clark has been to Florida several times, but the speedy wide receiver who is a huge need and top priority for the Gators never got to really take in as much of Gainesville and the campus as he finally was able to this weekend. On an unofficial visit because he already made five official visits elsewhere, Clark was still shown the ins and outs of being a Gator.

The visit seemed to go as planned for a Florida staff that is really trying to bring in some much needed speed and athleticism among the skill positions on offense.

"I had a great visit," Clark said Sunday afternoon. "I really got to see the academic side of Florida and some great facilities."

Knowing that getting into business and the academics were so important to him, Florida made sure he understood the scope of the Warrington School of Business on campus. According to Newsweek, it is the only undergraduate program in the top 50 nationally for any of the schools Clark is still considering. He says the academics part of his decision is a "very high" factor in it all.

"The business school, I didn't realize it was as good as it was," he said.

Clark had a chance to talk with the Florida staff at great length and they made it known to him that "They love my speed and play making ability." In the end he says he is looking for the program with, "the best balance of academics and on-field success."

Clark said he is done with in-home visits. He plans to announce his final decision on Wednesday (signing day) at 9 a.m. He said the coaching staffs may know his decision, "maybe tomorrow (Monday)."
