Make it 32 for Mixon
Offer No. 32 came rolling in tonight for the Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back, Joe Mixon. The Irish are the latest to offer the elusive playmaker. "It's really exciting, I've been waiting for this for a long time," Mixon said. "I've been waiting since July. I thought they were going to offer soon, but I didn't know it was going to be this soon. It's a big one." Mixon said Notre Dame offensive line coach Mike Denbrock delivered the good news Tuesday night. "Coach Denbrock said he had not just good news for me, but as a matter of fact, he had great news," Mixon said. "He told me Notre Dame was officially offering me. He's been telling me how I can contribute to their offense and how I can make a difference on the field for them." Mixon recognizes the opportunities that Notre Dame can offer prospects that choose to dawn blue and gold. "I like how Notre Dame is an academic school," he said. "They graduate a lot of their players. I just want to go somewhere that I can receive support both on and off the field in order to get me to the next level. Notre Dame could do that." Mixon is keeping his options open, and location continues to be a non-factor for the West coast standout. "I don't have any favorites right now," he said. "I could go anywhere. I plan on narrowing my list to about 15 in April, and if I get invited to the Army Bowl, I'll announce there." Mixon believes that Oregon, Miami and USC are the next schools that could join list of 32. Mixon will be visiting USC this weekend, but he is unaware of any other visits he'll take this spring.
