"Its going well," Helm said. "It started to pick up a lot in January. I have nine offers right now. I have offers from Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Iowa, Nebraska and Northwestern.
The consensus is that Helm is a tight end at the next level. He says that he's an excellent receiver as a tight end, he admits he needs some polish, but he also says that he's not opposed to getting his hands dirty at the position either.
"Everyone likes me at tight end," Helm said. "I am a pretty good receiver for an end. I can catch the ball well. I need to work on my routes, but then again I always need to be working on everything.
"I am not afraid to stick my nose in there and block too. I know that is a very important part of the position and I will need to do that at the next level."
Helm gets out and sees as many schools as he can. He says that time is limited based on his athletics, family needs and finding time for his parents or even a parent to get away.
"Unfortunately my plans for this spring and summer aren't very clear at the moment. I have a big family and I am doing basketball right now and will do track too so it's kind of hard to find time to go places when one or both of my parents are free."
Nebraska is one of the most recent teams to thrown down an offer for Helm. He is impressed by the offer from the Huskers and says that he would like to make a visit to Lincoln if it's possible.
"I received the offer from Nebraska last Monday and it's a great offer. It's a great school with a great tradition. I'd like to try to make a visit there if at all possible.
"I;m not exactly sure how much they use the tight end in the passing game so I will have to hear that from them and do some research on them as well."
