"I visited The University of Minnesota on Saturday February 23rd to re-connect after my visit on Junior Day," he said. "This was a great visit for me to get the chance to meet more of the staff and see areas of the impressive facility that I had not seen before."
While it had previously been reported that an offer had been extended his way, Hassenauer wanted to sit down with the staff and confirm it face to face before counting it officially.
"At the end of the day, Coach Kill and Coach Limegrover extended an offer to me to play football for the University of Minnesota. This offer is very important to me as it's my first. As far as the process moving forward, I have more meetings with the staff in February. I am really looking forward to these meetings to learn more about the Academic Programs and to get a feel for the University."
He was one of the top performers at the U.S. Army Combine in January, and continued performances like that one over the spring and summer months could bring about more offers. Even if more come though, Minnesota will always be the first and Hassenauer is impressed with what he has seen from the program.
"Junior Day was a great experience to visit with the coaching staff and learn more about Minnesota's Plans for the present and future. I visited with several coaches during the day as well as Coach Kill and Coach Limegrover. The conversations reinforced Minnesota's plan to be the best football program."
