Leniu takes home MVP at Las Vegas NLA 7V7

After struggling through pool play on Saturday, AIGA rolled through the Championship bracket on Sunday to take home the tournament title. The defense was key all day and linebacker Chandler Leniu took home MVP honors.

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco linebacker Chandler Leniu had a great tournament in leading the AIGA defense. He's a fast, instinctive ‘backer who runs well and is always around the football.

Leniu is a physical presence but showed solid cover skills and good hands as well. He's a natural leader who teammates rally around and he should definitely be mentioned among the most complete linebackers in the west region.

"This was a total team effort by everyone," Leniu said. "It was just a blessing to be out here with such great teammates and coaches. Saturday we were sluggish and we didn't start out too well but today we had a different attitude and a different mindset and we went out there and got it."

7 on 7 play is typically dominated by the quarterbacks, receivers and defensive backs but Leniu showed what a big impact a linebacker in the middle of a defense can have as well.

"I just tried to flow to the ball, stay patient and let the game come to me," Leniu said. "Like I said, I have great teammates and everyone played well and everyone stepped up their game. Our coaches did a great job preparing us and we played hard. It's a great honor to win MVP and I'm excited to bring it back to Bosco."
