Huskers in the mix for Rockwell

Nebraska is after one of the top defenders in the nation in T'Kevian Rockwell. Rockwell, am outside linebacker or safety prospect says that he's nearing double-digit offers.

T'Kevian Rockwell is basically in-season all year round between football and track for Wylie (Texas). The 6-foot-1 and 190-pound safety/outside linebacker prospect says that he's been training for track all winter.

"Things are going good," Rockwell said. "I am running track this spring. I run the 100m, maybe the 200m this year and then the 4x100m and 4x200m relays. My best 100m is 10.43 and that was laser timed at districts last year."

The Wylie football team had a tough year battling through a number of injuries. If there is a silver lining there were a number of younger players that got their feet wet last year and should be ready to go this year.

"Last year we didn't too well because we had a lot of injuries. We had a lot of young players that saw time last year. They are looking like players this year. Everyone is in the weight room getting bigger."

The consensus, according to Rockwell, is that most colleges like him as a safety. However, some have said outside linebacker. He's played both. In fact, he does a little bit of everthing for Wylie.

"Everyone likes me at safety, but I also play outside linebacker, returner and a little running back at the beginning of last year. As a safety I get to play both strong and free and I am comfortable playing both."

There aren't a lot of plans for Rockwell this spring except maybe getting down I-35 to Waco to see Baylor. There is also a camp that he would like to make a little later next month.

"I am going to try and get to a junior day at Baylor and a camp in April. I don't have any other plans beyond those two mainly because of track."

Rockwell says that his coach is really helping him handle his recruiting and he is truly uncertain how many offers he's holding. He knows about most of them, but not all of them.

"I was told that I had nine offers, but I don't know for sure. My coach is really running that. I know that I have offers from Baylor, Michigan, Nebraska, Missouri, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Virginia and Kansas for sure."

Rockwell says that he wants to go to a school where he is comfortable as well as a school where he can get a good education. Those two things though are the most important and if that means he has to leave the state of Texas then he will.

"I want to go to a school where I feel comfortable and somewhere that I can get a great education. It doesn't really matter if I stay close to home or not."
