Allen Rebuilding Wisconsin Relationship

After being highly courted by Wisconsin former coaching staff, Hinsdale (Ill.) Central offensive lineman Brian Allen visited Madison Saturday to meet the new staff, take in spring practice and find out where he stood with the Badgers.

Head coach Gary Andersen is working his first spring practices at Wisconsin, but is still getting the job done recruiting. One of the top targets on the board for the Badgers is Hinsdale (IL) center Brian Allen and he got the opportunity to the coaches, practice and much more.

"The visit went well, I had a good time," Allen told Badger Nation. "I got there about 10:30 in the morning and got the chance to walk around Camp Randall. I found myself watching practice next and I got a chance to sit down with offensive line coach T.J. Woods and Coach Andersen. I had a good time and hopefully I can get up there again soon. Overall, it was good."

The 6-2, 265-pound Allen is a three-star recruit and ranked the No. 2 center in the nation by Scout.com. Originally recruited and offered by the former staff, Allen came to Madison like it was the first time and with an open mind to meet the new coaching staff for the first time.

"Coach Woods wanted to ask if I have seen everything and I explained to him that I just wanted to get up and meet him. I got the chance to sit down with him and then I got to talk to Coach Andersen. He told me that they are serious about winning, carrying on tradition and getting better at Wisconsin."

While Allen didn't feel anything really stood out to him on the visit, meeting all the Wisconsin commits that could be his future teammates made the visit even better.

"I got the chance to George Panos, Jaden Gault and Conor Sheehy. I think meeting all those guys were my highlight and I like all those guys. Throughout the process, I have really established a relationship with those guys and it is always fun to see them.

"I mean, they kind of know my situation. They don't try to press too hard on getting me to join them, but they did express they wanted to play with me. It definitely is something to think about."

Now after visiting Madison and getting to meet the new coaching staff, where do the Badgers stand with the talented linemen?

"I mean where they sit is still kind of up in the air. They are trying to see what they have on the depth chart, what they want to take and that is what they explained today. That is still kind of foggy, but they said they still very interested and they want to see what happens. If I have an offer is something that is up in the air as well and we didn't really touch on that."

Allen is planning on going to Florida for spring break, so is planning on stopping at a couple of spots to Ole Miss next Friday, possibly a stop at Auburn, and then going to Florida March 27.
