Harrison's Focus Paying Off For Him

Lee's Summit (MO) West's talented multi-sport athlete hasn't seen a game or camp he doesn't seem to master. The special athlete spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com about his recruitment, baseball, and his big day winning MVP at camp today.

Lee's Summit (MO) West 2014 WR prospect Monte Harrison 6'2" 185 has had an interesting spring with recruiting heating up in football, having a strong season on the baseball field, and then today winning the  offensive MVP skills award at the Under Armor camp in St. Louis.

Harrison talked to ShowMeMizzou.com to update us about all of the above starting with winning the offensive skills MVP at camp.

'"Yeah, I was shocked to win it because I know that Allen Lazard was there, but I didn't really watch him. At the end of the day I have to worry about what I am doing and getting open and catching the ball is what I did. I think getting off the press and being able to use my body to get myself open helped me, "said Harrison.

Already holding offers from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Michigan State and Kansas State, Harrison turned his attention to recruiting and where that was at.

"Things with recruiting are pretty calm right now.but my coach tells me it's gonna bust open here soon. I haven't narrowed it down and I don't have a date for a decision. The schools that have offered me are all looking at me at receiver, and they are all even," he said.

I singled out Missouri and asked him to tell me about how things are with the Tigers are recruiting him.

"They stay in touch a lot seeing what I am doing and wanting me to come to spring practices and stuff, I couldn't go to their spring game yesterday because I had baseball."

Harrison is also a standout in baseball, and has been mentioned as possibly getting drafted and going the pro route, and possibly forgoing college and focusing on that sport instead.

"Baseball is going really good, and yeah, I have it mind to play baseball. It will depend on just how much money they throw at me," he said.

The multi-talented Harrison could even have a shot at playing college basketball if he wanted to.  However for now it appears as though football and baseball will battle it out for him in the end.
