"The evaluation period is going well," Hilliard said. "There have been lots of coaches coming by to my high school. I have picked up three offers in the past two weeks from Toledo, Arkansas and Nebraska."
All of the schools that have offered Hilliard like him as an outside linebacker. The 6-foot-1.5 and 210-pound Hilliard says that he has speed and aggressiveness off of the edge and also says that he has the ability to drop off into coverage if he's asked to do so.
"All three schools have talked to me about playing outside linebacker in college and that's where I play now. I think that my strength is my speed and aggressiveness. I can rush the quarterback and I am also drop into coverage."
Hilliard has taken a couple of trips this spring already. He has a few more that he would like to make this spring and so far this summer he knows that he will be making some camp plans and probably will not be going to any combines.
"This past month I have been to Arkansas and to Iowa. I plan to take trips to Ohio State, Notre Dame and Clemson. I am not planning on doing a lot of combines this summer, but will make some individual summer camps."
The opportunity to play college football is now in front of Hilliard and he admits that it was exciting and a relief to get that first offer. The second offer that he received really stands out to him after visiting there earlier this spring.
"It's a dream come true to get an opportunity to play college football and get my education paid for. My first offer was from Toledo and that was great. I was real excited when I got the Arkansas offer, I liked my visit there and liked the head coach and the linebacker coach. They are standing out right now.
"I just got the offer from Nebraska today. I am actually supposed to call back the coach from Nebraska tonight, I am going to have to continue to learn about them and I think that I will have a chance to visit there this summer."
