Cobb Content to Wait

The Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian linebacker, Jamardre Cobb, won't be making a decision for a while...

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian linebacker Jamardre Cobb (6-1, 218), is the West's top middle linebacker and he has offers from all over the country.

Cobb boasts offers from Arizona, Boise State, California, Colorado, Colorado State, Florida State, Memphis, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, SMU, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Washington State and Wisconsin.

"The most amazing offer I got was from Florida State," said Cobb. "I was really happy about that. I'd always watched them on television growing up. Miami was another great school that offered me. South Carolina too."

Cobb is hoping for a few more Pac-12 schools to get in the mix too.

"USC, Oregon, Washington and UCLA have all been by and we'll see what happens," said Cobb.

Cobb has a couple of schools that like him as a short yardage back and even fullback, but his heart is on defense.

"I think linebacker is where my meal ticket is at," said Cobb. "I could play defensive end or outside linebacker occasionally, but I'm a middle linebacker. Coaches say I'm a great middle linebacker and they see me as an athletic middle guy. I've been told I'm very physical and a great downfield tackler. That's what I want to play."

Cobb said no school is standing out and no one is recruiting harder than any other.

"Every school is about the same, so they're all even," said Cobb. "I don't know who else will offer. I'm pretty happy with the offers I've got. But I'm hoping for more."

Cobb doesn't anticipate making a decision anytime soon.

"I'm going to take all five of my trips and make a decision after my visits," said Cobb.
