On Tuesday night, Big Red Report caught up with 2015 offeree JoJo Anderson. A point guard for the Houston Defenders AAU squad, Anderson will be transferring from basketball powerhouse Yates high school in Texas, to play his junior and senior year at La Lumiere School in La Port, Indiana.
"The coaches are really good, they have shown me everything I needed to see around campus," said Anderson. "They talked to me about who they are going after. I think they know what they are doing. It's all about getting the players for them now.
"The trip was actually way better than what I expected. The facilities are amazing and the new gym they are building is huge. I didn't know this, but it's actually sold out for next season. That's big-time. It really shows the fan support, I like that."
Anderson, who holds offers from Auburn, Texas A&M, Rice, and Houston as well, talked with both recruiting coach Craig Smith and head coach Tim Miles about where they see him possibly fitting down the road.
"They are needing a point guard when he (Deverell Biggs) graduates, so they feel I could be that piece for them," said Anderson. "I'm definitely a true point guard. I like to run a bit and get my teammates the ball. I guess I'm a little flashy, but not too much."
Anderson will visit Creighton tomorrow morning, with trips to the east coast and to Vegas in the coming weeks for various basketball camps and tournaments. Schools like Baylor, UCLA, and Arizona also are showing major interest.
"I would say Nebraska is standing out a little more among my offers," said Anderson. "They are on me a little harder than the rest of them. They have showed me the most attention, which I like about them. They have definitely set the bar after this visit."
