Decision coming soon

Harrison Phillips has the offer that he went out trying to earn. The offer came after he saw some other schools and says that he has to think about where he will be going, but a decision should be coming soon.

Harrison Phillips went out trying to get that Nebraska offer this summer. The 6-foot-4 and 245-pound Phillips from Omaha (Nebr.) Millard West left camp in Lincoln though without an offer, but a message that Nebraska was going to contact him in a couple of weeks did yield an offer from the Huskers.

"It was crazy," Phillips said. "It's been crazy since I picked up the offer. Nebraska likes me at a number of positions either on offense or defense. Coach Bo Pelini says that Coach Kaczenski likes me on the defensive line, Coach John Garrison likes me on the offensive line and Coach Barney Cotton likes me as a tight end."

Some might imagine that the situation would be coming clearer for Phillips after Nebraska had offered. That is simply not the case. Phillips admits that after seeing some other schools to compare them to Nebraska he's a little more open now then what he might have been if a Nebraska offer had found it's way to him a little sooner.

"It would have been better if I would have picked up the Nebraska offer before I actually got it. I wouldn't be as open as I am right now. I mean, I have seen a lot of great schools when I didn't get the offer from Nebraska and a lot of schools have come forward with offers.

"I went to Stanford for a week for camp and it's great there. The campus and facilities are amazing. The coaches are all great. I also saw Iowa and it's an amazing place as well. UCLA also followed up with an offer after they saw some additional film on me and saw that I picked up offers based on how I did at other schools' camps. They just needed to triple check everything."

There are 35+ offers out there on the table for Phillips now and he says that a commitment to one of those schools will be coming, soon. How soon? Not 4th of July fireworks soon, but not too far off either. He says that everyone should know where he is planning on going in the next couple of weeks.

"I know that it's going to be sooner before later," Phillips said. "I would say in the next two weeks. Don't expect anything this weekend over the 4th from me. I am not that ready to make a decision. I am still thinking about everything."

Over the next couple of weeks Phillips says that he will be thinking about all of the schools, all of the situations and things that he's looking for in a school. He says that the school he spends the most time thinking about will be the school that he chooses.

"Basically what it's going to come down to is the school that I find myself thinking about the most. It's going to be the school that is keeping me at night when it comes to seeing myself there as part of their team and their program."
