Fourth of July BOOM!

Freedom Akinmoladun pulled the trigger on a commitment to the Huskers becoming the tenth known verbal for Nebraska. Akinmoladun chose the Huskers over Iowa and Kansas State.

Nebraska has nabbed their tenth known commitment for the 2014 class with Freedom Akinmoladun choosing Nebraska over Iowa and Kansas State. Akinmoladun is a standout tight end and defensive end for Grandview (Mo.).

Akinmoladun was in Lincoln for Big Red Weekend in mid-June. The 6-foot-5 and 238-pound Akinmoladun came away from the weekend feeling like he and his family were already part of the Nebraska family.

"Nebraska, they took my family under their wings while I enjoyed the visit and got to focus on it," Akinmoladun said. "They made it seem like we were part of their family.

"I had a good time. I met a lot of coaches, I met a lot of the recruiters, it really felt like a good atmosphere to me. I talked with the coaching staff about how they use their tight ends and defensive ends and got a chance to see a lot of the campus. I think I saw everything. It was great."

Akinmoladun joins the 2014 class likely on the offensive side of the ball at tight end. The offensive part of the 2014 class has really started to take shape after commitments like Tanner Farmer, Zack Darlington, Mick Stoltenberg, D.J. Foster and Demornay Pierson-El joined the class during a weeks time in June.

This is the third consecutive year that Nebraska has pulled a recruit from the Kansas City area. Akinmoladun joins Maliek Collins and Zach Hannon from the 2013 class and Michael Rose from the 2012 class.
