Midlands: Most Anticipated – Part II

FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com Midlands team of analysts and reporters look at some of the players they look forward to seeing this upcoming season. In this edition, Annabel Stephan and Ahmard Vital looks a couple of big-time running backs a versatile athlete and player in the trenches.

RB Justin Stockton, Cibolo (TX) Steele – Not only does Stockton play for one of the most talented offenses in the Centex area, but the Knights' program is known for putting out great talent at the position. Stockton shined in 7on7 over the summer, but it will be fun to watch the Texas Tech commit, who clocks in under a 4.5 for his forty, take to the field this fall.

ATH Courtland Sutton, Brenham (TX) High – Talk about versatility, Sutton plays on both sides of the ball as a receiver and defensive back. And, on top of that, he is getting recruited for both, plus a few other positions. I look for him to be a major playmaker this upcoming season, a go-to guy for the Cub team.

RB Samaje Perine, Pflugerville (TX) Hendrickson – Keeping with the running back theme, Perine, an Oklahoma commit, is one of the most dynamic prospects at the position in this class. The 5-foot-11, 215-pounder seems to have gotten both faster and stronger over the summer, and will prove to be a problem for opposing defenses this season.

WR/TE Mavin Saunders, Houston (TX) Kinkaid – Bursting on the scene last season, I was not able to see him live despite the fact that Kinkaid won the championship, again. It won't happen again. Saunders, a Florida State commitment, is a big and raw talent, but has been working hard on his game through the off season and summer. I'm ready to see his upgraded play.

OT Zach Ledwik, La Grange (TX) High –Ledwik saw a huge rise in his recruiting stock over the summer before the 6-foot-5, 273-pound athlete committed to Texas A&M. We didn't get much of a chance to see Ledwik at camp this summer, so it will be interesting to see what improvements the highly touted prospect made throughout the off-season.

Ahmard Vital is responsible for Midlands Recruiting, mainly covering prospects in the state of Texas. He joined Scout.com in 2005 and is the author of the newly released book, Awaken the Baller Within.
