With four offers under his belt, West Side (Ind.) wide receiver Jon Vea' Johnson opened up his season against Hobart (Ind.) on the road.
"The first game was pretty good, I was just playing my game. Nothing really took me out of the mode," Johnson said. "I just had to go out there and make plays, I did leave a lot of plays on the field."
Johnson racked up three touchdowns in the game, and over one-hundred receiving yards -- something he wasn't exactly expecting to start the season. "When I am playing my game I am just in my mode. I never know," Johnson said. "Overall, I think I did pretty well you know."
And as for his recruitment, that's going pretty well too. "I have offers from Cincinnati, Toledo, Ball State and Eastern Michigan," Johnson said. "And I have heard from Purdue, Indiana and more Big Ten schools around the area. That would be all probably and I have heard from Iowa State just a little bit."
What are some things that Johnson has received very positive feedback about during his recruitment?
"Feedback on my route running, mostly. My high school coaches and college coaches tell me my route running is magnificent," Johnson said. "And catching the ball and just the yards after the catch and getting those."
He added, "There are still a lot of things I need to work on but I am just trying to tune my craft now."
Johnson has put a bit of a hold on his recruitment, in order to focus on his senior season.
"I was just going to wait until after the eseason and have everything sorted out and talk to my parents, I haven't talked to my mom about it yet so that will come into play," Johnson said. "And just waiting until after the season. Right now I am just focused on the season, and like I said tuning my craft and getting better as a receiver."
But Johnson will probably take a couple visits during the season -- and has some schools in mind.
"I'll probably visit Purdue and see a couple games, and I might go to Cincinatti and I also have to go visit Toledo," Johnson said.
