The visitor breakdown

Nebraska has an 11:00 kickoff which doesn't allow for some official visitors, particularly those with Friday night games, to make it into Lincoln in time for kickoff. But, the Huskers host a talented pair of official visitors this weekend for their game against UCLA.

The 11:00 time slot for Nebraska is a tough one if a recruit has a game on Friday night. It makes it nearly impossible to travel into Omaha or Lincoln in a lot of cases. But, there are those players that have a bye or played earlier in the week that can still take advantage of this great match-up with UCLA.

Official visitors:

Ricky Walker, DT, 6-foot-2/275-pounds, Hampton (Va.) Bethel
Walker is rated a three-star recruit, but is a high three-star as the No. 38 defensive tackle in the nation. Walker is a player that has had a Nebraska offer for a while, but the amount of interest that he had in Nebraska wasn't clear until he set up the visit. The vision of a 2014 class that has a player like Peyton Newell already in it and with the possibility that Nebraska could add someone like Walker to it has to make the Nebraska staff extremely happy. The two are similar in so many ways: great motors, good athletes for big men and are versatile playing inside and outside. Couple a pair of DTs like Newell and Walker with Maliek Collins and Kevin Maurice from last year and there are some incredibly solid interior defensive lineman coming up through the program. Penn State and Virginia Tech appear to be the biggest challenge to Nebraska to land Walker.

Brandon Powell, RB, 5-foot-10/171-pounds, Deerfield Beach (Flor.)
Powell is a Miami commitment who could play a number of positions at the next level like running back, wide receiver, cornerback and also as a returner. In fact, Powell recently flipped his commitment from Tennessee, who liked Powell as a slot receiver, to Miami who is recruiting him to play running back. He's a play maker. Watch his film and you see a little Ameer Abdullah in the cuts and hitting the hole quick, but you can see he's got a fifth gear. The word that you might use to describe Powell's ability is simply: electric. Powell says that he's 100% committed to Miami, but I am sure that Nebraska has to like the fact that they are going to get a chance to host him. Powell says that he is planning on taking all five of his visits and that Miami is O.K. with him doing so. Nebraska is the only visit that Powell has scheduled at the moment.

Expected unofficial visitors:

Peyton Newell, DT, 6-3/280, Hiawatha (Kans.)
D.J. Foster, OL, 6-foot-3/314-pounds, Lincoln (Nebr.) Southeast
Luke Gifford, DB, 6-foot-3/195-pounds, Lincoln (Nebr.) Southeast
Freedom Akinmoladun, TE, 6-foot-5/238-pounds, Grandview (Mo.)

There may be additional unofficial visitors that we will work to confirm before the game. As the unofficial visitors are confirmed they will be added to the visitors list for this weekend. Stay tuned to BigRedReport.com for all of the latest recruiting news!
