"We got there early before the game and got to take a little tour," Schmidt said. "We got to eat breakfast and saw some of the new facilities. The part of the east stadium that we saw was being built during Big Red Weekend."
Nebraska's offense is up-tempo that has some spread qualities and Schmidt sees it. He says that he could see himself in Nebraska's offense and says that he thinks Nebraska is waiting to see junior film before offering.
"I definitely see similarities between Nebraska's offense and the offense that we run. I think that I could fit in there. We didn't really talk about an offer, but I think that Nebraska is looking for some of my junior film and will make a decision based on that."
One of the things that Schmidt said he wanted to do this weekend was not get caught up in the emotion. He wanted to pay attention to see if he could catch some things that he has missed before on his previous trips to Nebraska.
"I did catch some things that I missed last time. I saw how much the coaches actually coach the players. There is always a coach there to talk to the players and to teach them. I also got a chance to see some of the every day things of being a player."
Nebraska is fortunate to have gotten a chance to host Schmidt because as of right now all other visits are undetermined. He says that he will wait to see what days the playoffs will be on and then will see about more trips.
"Right now any more visits are up in the air. The playoffs will likely be on Saturdays and the championship definitely will be. So until I can get all of that straight and look at some schools' schedules all other visits are up in the air."
