Abdullah is B1G POW

Ameer Abdullah has been named the Big Ten's Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

LINCOLN, Neb. - After rushing for 225 yards on Saturday against Illinois, the Big Ten announced on Monday Nebraska junior running back Ameer Abdullah is the conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Abdullah's efforts were crucial in helping Nebraska down Illinois 39-19 in the pair's fist Big Ten game of the season.

Head coach Bo Pelini was asked about Abdullah's performance at his morning press conference on Monday.

"He's got great vision," said Pelini. "I'm not comparing him to Barry Sanders, but the way he can put his foot in the ground, be heading up the field, and then be heading east-west and creating space. He does a great job of creating space for himself."

Through five games this season, Abdullah has rushed for 690 yards and five touchdowns on 94 attempts.
