Lauderdale interested in Nebraska

This top junior college wide receiver knows two schools that he will visit this January. Can Nebraska get one of his remaining three official visits?

Eric Lauderdale is happy to be back on the playing field. The Mission Viejo (Calif.) Saddleback C.C. wide receiver missed a few games this season recovering from an injury that he suffered in the spring.

"I have been injured and missed a few games," Lauderdale said. "I tore a muscle off of the bone and just returned to the team. I have been out since around April.

"I am getting the rust off. I was used on a lot of short routes in my first game back and had nine receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown. The next two games got better. I had eight catches for 108 yards and a touchdown and eight catches for 150 yards and another touchdown."

At 6-foot-2 Lauderdale has enough length to play the "X" in college. He says because of his quickness though that he could also play inside at the slot. He knows that with his frame that he can easily carry around another 10 pounds or so.

"I would say probably outside is where I would fit the best, but I could play inside as well because I am quick. I weigh about 195-pounds right now and could get to about 205-pounds before going to the next school."

Lauderdale had been committed to an SEC school, but doing the right thing, decided to decommit and go through the process to validate his decision. He still considers the team he decommitted from to be very much in the picture.

"I was committed to Tennessee. I love their program. I didn't want to be committed while taking visits to other schools. I still say that Tennessee is still very much in the picture for me."

There are a couple of schools that Lauderdale knows that he wants to visit. He doesn't have a date on either school yet and he knows that he wants to wait until after his season is over to take any visits.

"I don't know where I will take all of my trips to yet," Lauderdale said. "I know that I will visit Miami and Arizona State. I will wait until the season is over though and make my trips in January though."

The Huskers have offered the standout junior college wide receiver a while back. Lauderdale has been developing a good relationship with the Nebraska wide receiver coach and he says as a result the Huskers could end up getting a visit.

"I got an offer from Nebraska earlier in the year. Coach Rich Fisher has been recruiting me from Nebraska. In fact, he messaged me a little bit ago and I need to get back to him. They are a school I am interested in. I just need to figure everything out."
