Hayes Sees Spartan Victory

Orchard Lake St. Mary's class of 2016 RB-LB Daelin Hayes saw Michigan State win a key conference game over rival Michigan. He talks about his conversation with the Spartan staff here.

Michigan State had several in-state underclassmen on campus on Saturday for their win over rival Michigan. One of them was Orchard Lake St. Mary's Daelin Hayes, an intriguing potential prospect because of his 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame and 4.55 speed.

He had been to Michigan State before, but hadn't experienced anything like what he saw on Saturday.

"It was great," he said. "The stadium was packed and the crowd was live. I also had a good talk with Coach Salem after the game."

Hayes could play running back or linebacker at the next level. The Spartans haven't specified which side of the ball they want him at yet, but he says early communication has gone well.

"[Coach Salem] said it was great having me. He wants me to come to a few bowl practices and that I'll make a huge impact on the system. I replied to him, 'I'm ready when you guys are.' He then said 'great' and he would let Coach Dantonio know how I felt."

Hayes, whose cousin Justice Hayes plays at Michigan, will visit the Wolverines this Saturday for their game against Nebraska.
