Bond likes what he sees at Nebraska

After failing to academically qualify at Miami, the Huskers are back on Devante Bond's list and right in the thick of it for his services.

Devante Bond may have been the star of the weekend. The dynamic defender from Rocklin (Calif.) Sierra C.C. was pushed for time to talk, but said that one of the most memorable parts of the weekend was talking with the head coach at Nebraska.

"I really liked getting a chance to meet all of the coaches," Bond said. "Most of all was getting a chance to speak with Coach Bo Pelini. He's a great guy and really down to Earth."

Besides Coach Bo and the rest of the staff the most important player might have been his host, Randy Gregory. Gregory is a junior college transfer himself and the Huskers are selling Bond on how they plan to use the two on the field next year.

"I got a chance to talk with Randy Gregory. The Nebraska staff told me how they would use me with Randy on the field. It was important to talk to him.

"I also wanted to talk a lot with Coach Rick Kaczenski and the rest of his players. I wanted to hear from him what he is like to be around and to play for."

Bond was impressed with the game at Nebraska and is returning to California with a lot of things on his mind. The 6-foot-3 and 240-pound Bond says that it's looking like it could come down to the two schools he's officially visited and a decision could come at any moment.

"The game was great. The environment was unreal. I would say that Oklahoma and Nebraska are my top two and I am not sure if I will make any other trips. I am going to go back home and think about things. When the time is right I will know."
