Doherty comes away impressed

Nebraska had a number of visitors in town this weekend including this highly touted 2015 recruit from Kansas City (Mo.) Winnetonka. What were his thoughts about the visit?

Marquise Doherty from Kansas City (Mo.) Winnetonka made his way to Lincoln this weekend for an unofficial visit to Nebraska. The 6-foot1 and 190-pound Doherty loved the fans in Lincoln.

"That was my first trip to Lincoln," Doherty said. "It was pretty crazy. The fans are all about their Huskers, undefeated or winless they are there.

"The tunnel walk is unlike anything I have ever seen. It was awesome. It was a great experience."

Doherty has been told by Nebraska that they like him on either offense or defense. He spoke at length with the Nebraska staff about that when they determined he was a better fit on the offensive side.

"I spoke with Coach Ron Brown and we both agreed I would fit in nicely with the offense and the things that they are trying to do.

"I'm open to playing running back or wide receiver, but since Coach Brown talks to me I am assuming that they would like to see me in the backfield which works for me."

This is the second time that Doherty has been to see Nebraska this year. He says that he wants to get back soon. He also said that even though Nebraska lost they never quit and that impressed him.

"I definitely want to get back up there before too long. And although they didn't win they still competed. Sometimes you have those games, but they fought to the end which was impressive."
