Now the question is, has former Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard bought in?
The former Michigan Wolverines now ESPN Gameday analyst said on Saturday, Abdullah would be lucky to run for 40 yards against Michigan State.
"That's their job to make predictions and it's my job to shut them up," said Abdullah on Monday. "I feel like we did a good job of that, but obviously it wasn't good enough to get the win on Saturday."
Abdullah's 2013 season has been nothing but special. The Alabama native is averging 6.5 yards per carry, up 1.5 yards per rush from last season.
"Yeah, it's not hard to do when you got guys who care about you so much right in front of you," said Abdullah. "A lot of times the holes are really big, sometimes they are not as big. Every play it seems like everyone is busting their tail just to make sure the play's successful. It doesn't really matter – as you know we've had a lot of injuries up front – but it doesn't matter who is up front for us right now. They really care about our running game and understand it is important for us in order to move the ball we have to be able to run the ball."
